Paper or Scientific Article

A paper is a relatively brief work intended for its publication in specialized journals.

It must be carefully written in order to avoid unnecessary digressions, so as to be able to express in a clear concise way what is meant to be communicated, including the indispensable quotations and references.

Many times the scientific articles are report synthesis or more relevant thesisses, that orientate the efforts of those people that may be interested in consulting the original piece of work.

The English word Paper has a similar meaning, though larger because it includes the papers presented at a conference.
